The School of Economics and Finance was established in 2003, originating from the Department of Finance at the Business School of Anhui University of Finance and Economics (now Bengbu College of Technology and Business). It was renamed in March 2021. Currently, the school comprises three teaching departments: the Department of Finance, the Department of Investment and Financial Engineering, and the Department of Digital Economy. It offers four undergraduate programs: Finance, Financial Engineering, Investment, and Digital Economy. Notably, Finance is a First-class Undergraduate Major in Anhui Province, and Financial Engineering is a university-level first-class major.
The school strengthens its faculty through recruitment, training, and appointments. It currently has 63 full-time faculty members (including external appointments), including 10 professors and 13 associate professors. Among them, 51 teachers hold a master's degree or higher, with 14 holding a doctoral degree. The faculty includes 6 Provincial Teaching Masters, 13 Provincial Rising Stars in Teaching, and 18 university-level academic leaders and outstanding teachers.
The school emphasizes research and teaching to promote social service. In recent years, faculty members have led or participated in 7 national research projects, over 30 provincial/ministerial research projects, and over 40 provincial teaching research projects. They have published more than 60 research papers, 20 teaching research papers, and 11 monographs and textbooks. The school has received 6 research and teaching awards at or above the municipal level and has completed 8 regional economic and social development planning tasks commissioned by local governments.
The school focuses on developing students' innovation and practical skills through its laboratories and internship bases. It features a Financial Investment Experimental Training Center and a Digital Economy Laboratory, equipped with advanced simulation and digital platforms such as Hithink Flush, iFind, and various financial modeling and big data systems. To support practical training, the school has established internship and employment bases with over 20 financial enterprises, including branches of Guoyuan Securities, Haitong Securities, and SPD Bank. Furthermore, students are encouraged to participate in disciplinary competitions like the Financial Investment Innovation Competition and the Challenge Cup, winning over 400 provincial awards and above in the past three years.
Adhering to a student-centered and virtue-oriented approach, the school innovates its talent cultivation to improve educational quality. Graduates primarily work in financial and non-financial sectors, focusing on areas like financial derivatives, venture capital, and investment analysis. With solid professional skills and high comprehensive quality, the employment and further education rates of graduates consistently rank among the top at the university.
