On the morning of November 3, the 2024 Bengbu Marathon opened grandly at the Bengbu Olympic Sports Center. Under the theme Happy Bengbu, Running Along the Beautiful Huai River, athletes from across China gathered to participate, experience sports culture, and carry forward the sporting spirit.
To ensure the smooth running of the marathon, the Municipal Youth League Committee, in collaboration with local universities and vocational colleges, recruited 1,249 volunteers. Bengbu College of Technology and Business (BCTB) actively responded by recruiting 380 volunteers to provide event support, working alongside volunteers from other institutions to serve the event.
One week before the race, BCTB arranged for professional instructors to provide general training for the volunteers. They systematically learned the basics of marathon sports, the overall organizational structure of the event, and key service points to ensure high-quality volunteer service.
At 4:45 AM on November 3, the team leader Han Jiahe(teacher) led the 380 volunteers to the race site, where they arrived early to prepare for their duties.
Throughout the event, the volunteers assisted the organizers with tasks such as reception, security checks, maintaining order, clearing obstacles, distributing supplies, and providing sports care with great enthusiasm and meticulous service. They helped resolve challenges for the athletes, embodying the volunteer spirit of “Dedication, Friendship, Mutual Assistance, and Progress” through their practical actions.
The BCTB Youth League Committee will continue to organize volunteer service activities, creating new pathways for cultural education through volunteering and building platforms to showcase the power of youth. This initiative aims to help more students dedicate themselves to volunteer causes and realize their self-worth through practice.
