To strengthen the research capabilities of the faculty and enhance the empirical analysis skills of full-time teachers and the quality of undergraduate thesis guidance, the School of Economics and Finance at Bengbu College of Technology and Business (BCTB) successfully held its 4th research team theme activity on the afternoon of April 9 at Room C201, Mingli Building. Dean Ma Chengwen was invited to deliver a special report, with more than 30 teachers from across the school participating in the learning and discussion session.

The seminar, themed The Application of Basic Econometric Models, focused on the practical principles of econometric modeling. Following the logical framework of Model Selection — Data Fitting — Result Interpretation, the session systematically reviewed common basic econometric models, sample data types, model estimation processes, model testing, and result analysis.

During the report, Dean Ma used Eviews software to demonstrate OLS linear regression, providing detailed explanations of application scenarios, operational essentials, and result interpretation. This live demonstration provided a clear, step-by-step visualization of the entire process from model selection to diagnostic testing. Dean Ma specifically addressed common issues such as model misuse and failed statistical tests (e.g., F-tests and T-tests) often encountered by teachers during research paper writing and undergraduate thesis guidance, offering practical solutions and guidance.
